Step 1:
  • Be sure to wear the gloves and wrap on old towel around your neck to protect your shoulders.
  • Use the tip of the bottle to apply the colour mixture, starting with the roots and separating the hair strand by strand.
Step 2: Apply the entire colour mixture and spread thoroughly by massaging gently, to ensure good penetration. If you’re using an extra-lightening shade, be sure to consult the instructions in the product box for special applications tips. Now simply sit and let the formula set in. The waiting time is different depending on the brand:
Garnier Belle Color: Let sit for 20 minutes. If your hair is particularly resistant or if you have a lot of grey, let develop for 30 minutes. If you’re using an extra-lightening shade, timing may differ so check the instructions in the box.
Garnier Nutrisse Cream: Let sit for 25 minutes. If your hair is particularly resistant or if you have a lot of grey, let develop for 35 minutes. If you’re using an extra-lightening shade, timing may differ so check the instructions in the box.
Garnier 100% Color: Let sit for 30 minutes. If you’re using shade XL 1, let sit for 45 minutes.
After the development time has passed, apply a small amount of warm water to the hair and massage it gently. Rinse thoroughly until the water runs clear.
Then proceed with the after-colour conditioner in the box.

Retouch Application
Use this approach if you colour your hair every four to six weeks with the same shade and if, after several weeks of growth, you want to re-touch the roots.
  • Step 1: Be sure to wear the gloves and wrap on old towel around your neck to protect your shoulders.

Step 2: 10 minutes before then end of the wait time, you can add the rest of the colourant to the lengths and tips, working from the top, down. Apply the entire colour mixture and spread thoroughly by massaging gently to ensure good penetration.
Note that the waiting time is different depending on the brand:
Garnier Belle Color: Let sit for 20 minutes for hair that has little or no grey. If you hair is particularly resistant or if you have a lot of grey, total developing time is 30 minutes. If you’re using an extra lightening shade, timing may differ, so check the instructions on the box.
Garnier Nutrisse Cream: Let sit for 25 minites. If your hair is particularly resistant or if you have a lot of grey, total developing time is 35 minutes.
