Texturizing Tips for Short, Medium & Long Hair

Short

Work a little paste or gel through your pixie, micro-bob, or other cropped style to turn up the volume. Then, use your fingertips to give your ends some spiky edge.

Medium

Spritz hair with a touch of texturizing spray. Then, scrunch with your fingers to make a glam "mess" of your bob or lob. If you want more piecey definition, use a curling iron, wrapping hair backwards around the wand. After curling, finger-style accordingly.

Long

Give your length a beachy wave, starting with an all-over spritz of texturizing spray. Then, starting from the back, wrap sections of your hair around a wide-barrel curling iron leaving your ends uncurled. Finish by lightly paddle-brushing and finger-arranging pieces to your preference.

Spray Before You Style

Prep for piecey texture by applying a texturizing spray, paste, or gel before blow-drying or hot curling.

Don't Curl Your Ends

Leave your tips hanging when you use your curling iron--it's the trick to effortlessly undone texture.

Choose a Textured Style for Your Hair Type

Fine Hair
Beach waves give every hair type natural looking texture and added body--even fine hair. To get the look, spray all over with a texturizer, then hot curl in pieces, and finish by gently brushing and arranging with your fingers.

Thick Hair
If your hair is thick, choppy layers look good at any length. To get the look, start with a texturizing spray, hot curl in sections, and arrange loosely with your fingers and a paddle brush.
