[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was excited to use the Black Peel-Off Mask with Charcoal by Garnier SkinActive. I’m just starting to incorporate activated charcoal into my beauty regimen, so I jumped at the opportunity to try this out. I followed the directions on the package. I applied a thick coating to my t-zone because my skin gets super oily there. After waiting for it to dry, I started to peel it off and it wasn’t pulling anything up. It felt like a dollar store version of a face peel that only gives you the satisfaction of peeling something off your face. I’ll try it again because I still have some left but you have to put so much product on it didn’t seem worth it.

I was nervous because, just like everybody else I have seen those videos of people screaming in pain from using a peel off mask. Well, thankfully this mask wasn't painful to remove at all! It was easy to apply and remove. I didn't think it removed anything, until I looked closer and you could actually see were it cleaned out my pores. My blackheads on my chin were gone! I took 1 star away because, all though the scent wasn't awful. I wasn't a fan of the smell of it, it reminded me of a mens cologne. I prefer my face masks to not have a scent to them.

I applied the mask per the directions. It did take a bit for it to all dry enough for removal. While it was on my face, it had a nice cooling menthol sensation. I did have some difficulty peeling the mask, but eventually I was able to remove the last bits with some water and a washcloth. I've only used it once, so I haven't noticed any major changes in my pores, but my skin feels nice and soft after using the mask. I am pleased with the results and will definitely buy more when the sample runs out.

I put it on and noticed that it was a lot thinner than I had imagined, but it smelled really nice. I applied it to my t-zone as well we my chin where I have stubborn little blackheads. I kept it on for the recommend time and when I peeled it off some areas were still very wet. The areas that we're completely dry felt a little softer and smoother, but I'm not sure if that's what I was supposed to get. The sample size was great so I will be trying it again a couple of times before I decide to buy it or not.

I loved the smell of the product... it made me feel like I was getting a spa treatment. I needed to wait a bit longer than 20 minutes for the mask to dry completely. Peeling it off was painless and kind of fun, actually. I could see the gunk getting pulled out of my pores, and my face looked clearer and smoother afterward. I will definitely be adding this to my regular skincare arsenal.

My first reaction when I received this sample was worry about the peel-off process. I've watched several videos of people peeling off charcoal masks and having terrible, painful experiences. I was pleasantly surprised! I felt absolutely no pain as I was peeling off this mask. I could see the impurities stuck to the mask after I peeled it off, so I know it did a great job. I had no pain or redness after removing the mask. My skin felt soft and fresh! I will definitely use this mask in the future!
